Russia Seeks Turkey’s Assistance in Withdrawing Remaining Military from Syria
Moscow, Russia – Amid the ongoing conflict in Syria, Russia has formally requested Turkey’s assistance in withdrawing its remaining military forces from the war-torn country. The request comes as Syrian rebel forces continue their advance, capturing key cities and putting pressure on the Assad regime.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the request during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Moscow. Lavrov emphasized the need for a coordinated effort to ensure the safe and orderly withdrawal of Russian troops, citing the rapidly changing situation on the ground.
Turkey, which has been a key player in the Syrian conflict, has agreed to support Russia’s request. The two countries have a history of cooperation in the region, including joint efforts to create a “safe zone” along the Turkish-Syrian border.
The international community is closely watching the developments, with many hoping that the collaboration between Russia and Turkey will lead to a peaceful resolution in Syria. The United Nations has called for all parties to engage in dialogue and work towards a political solution to the conflict.
