KYIV – August 18, 2026 – Russian forces launched 76 jet-powered drones at Ukraine during daylight hours on Tuesday, primarily targeting the Kyiv region, while an overnight attack involved 147 drones of various types, Ukrainian air defence reported.
Ukrainian forces intercepted or suppressed the majority of the jet-powered drones and 111 of the overnight targets. Strikes and falling debris were still recorded at multiple locations, including Brovary in the Kyiv region, where civilian facilities and warehouses were damaged and fires broke out.
In the Kharkiv region, earlier strikes caused casualties and damage to residential areas. The attacks form part of Russia’s sustained campaign of aerial assaults using Shahed-type drones, jet-powered variants, and decoys.
Ukrainian officials continue to call for additional air-defence systems as Russian forces maintain pressure on cities and infrastructure across the country.
