KYIV – September 4, 2026 – Russian attacks killed at least five people and injured more than 60 across Ukraine over the past day, as drones reached western regions including Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian strikes caused damage in 13 oblasts overnight. Kyiv faced its eighth consecutive day of drone attacks, including a strike that hit a Coca-Cola plant and injured 13 people, among them a child.
Russia launched 163 Shahed-type drones overnight, about half of them jet-powered models that are faster and harder to intercept. Odesa was also hit, with 17 people injured, including three children. Power and civilian infrastructure have been damaged in multiple cities.
Ukraine has formally told international aviation authorities that Russian airspace is unsafe for civilian traffic as Kyiv expands its own long-range drone campaign.
