Kenora, ON – August 6, 2026 – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog region, warning of possible strong wind gusts, large hail and a low risk of tornadoes late this afternoon and into the evening.
The watch covers conditions favourable for storms capable of producing wind gusts up to 90 km/h and hail the size of quarters to ping-pong balls. Confidence in any tornado threat is described as low.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop or move into the area later this afternoon and continue through the evening. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, secure outdoor items and seek shelter indoors if storms approach.
Temperatures today are expected to reach the mid-to-high 20s Celsius under a mix of sun and cloud before the unsettled weather arrives.
