KYIV – August 8, 2026 – Russian missile and drone attacks overnight killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 80 across Ukraine, according to local authorities and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Three people, including a young child, were killed in the Kyiv region. Additional fatalities were reported in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched six missiles and 151 attack drones. Air defences downed or suppressed 135 of the drones. Several ballistic missiles struck civilian areas near the capital.
Zelenskyy again called on Western allies to accelerate deliveries of air-defence systems and interceptors, citing ongoing shortages.
