KYIV – August 14, 2026 – Ukrainian air defences destroyed or jammed 90 out of 112 Russian drones launched overnight, the Air Force reported early Friday.
The attack involved a mix of Shahed-type drones, some jet-powered, along with other loitering munitions launched from multiple directions. Hits were recorded at 11 locations, with debris falling in several others.
Earlier in the week, a similar large-scale drone assault killed two railway workers when a jet-powered drone struck a passenger train locomotive in the Odesa region. Additional injuries were reported in other areas.
Ukraine continues to face regular combined drone and missile attacks as Russian forces maintain pressure on cities and infrastructure. Air defence units, electronic warfare systems and mobile fire groups remain heavily engaged.
