KYIV – August 31, 2026 – Ukrainian air defences neutralized 96 of 121 drones launched by Russia overnight, the Air Force said, as the death toll from a strike on a weapons warehouse near Kyiv rose to at least 38.
Russia attacked with Shahed-type drones, decoys and one Kh-59 missile launched from over the Black Sea. Hits were recorded at 11 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at eight others.
The warehouse strike in Myla last week remains under investigation after secondary explosions and fires spread to nearby homes, including a care facility. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said storing ammunition in a residential area was illegal.
Russia continued near-constant drone attacks on Kyiv and other regions over the weekend. Ukrainian forces also reported striking Russian energy and military targets, including a refinery in Leningrad Oblast.
