KENORA – August 31, 2026 – The City of Kenora is moving forward with expropriation of the Kenricia Hotel, with a mass eviction of current residents tentatively set for November 6.
The city has issued expropriation letters as it seeks to take over and revitalize the Main Street building. Officials have described the project as part of a broader effort to address downtown conditions and reuse vacant or troubled properties.
The plan has raised concerns among residents still living in the building, who face displacement later this fall. City officials have not released a full timeline for demolition or redevelopment, but say they intend to proceed with the takeover.
The Kenricia has long been a focal point in debates over downtown safety, housing and revitalization in Kenora.
