TORONTO – September 7, 2026 – Prime Minister Mark Carney’s federal government will host the Canada Investment Summit in downtown Toronto on Sept. 14 and 15, pitching Canadian energy, critical minerals, defence and technology projects to global investors as Canada–U.S. trade talks remain stalled.
The summit is co-organized with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Public Sector Pension Investment Board. Ottawa has framed the event as part of a push to mobilize more than $1 trillion in public, private and institutional investment over five years.
Confirmed attendees reported by The Globe and Mail include major Canadian pension and corporate leaders alongside international firms that collectively oversee nearly $120 trillion in assets, among them BlackRock, Blackstone, Temasek and several sovereign wealth funds. All 13 premiers are expected.
Carney is scheduled to open the main program on Sept. 15 with a keynote and a fireside chat with PSP Investments CEO Deborah Orida. Agenda items include energy, AI and frontier technology, defence manufacturing and critical-minerals supply chains, plus investment sessions led by ministers including Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne.
