DRYDEN – October 13, 2026 – Dryden OPP stopped a vehicle in Wabigoon on October 10 for speeding. The stop turned into a drug and proceeds investigation. Two Winnipeg residents are charged.
Police said the investigation uncovered a large quantity of cash they believe is proceeds of crime, and suspected illicit drugs. Both face charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Neither has been named. Both were held in custody for bail hearings. The allegations have not been tested in court.
Wabigoon sits on Highway 17 between Dryden and Ignace. The stop is the second drug file in the northwest in a week, after the Kenora downtown probe that charged seven people. The amounts and the substances have not been released.
