ZAPORIZHZHIA – October 11, 2026 – Russian aerial bombs hit residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia on Saturday. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said at least 15 people were killed, three of them children, and at least 16 were wounded.
Zelenskyy wrote that Russia had thanked Washington for lifting sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on those buildings. The diesel arrangement, announced by Trump on Friday after a call with Putin, is for more than 300,000 tonnes immediately, 500,000 in November, and further shipments after that. Zelenskyy had already called it a gift. Saturday was the reply he said was coming.
Overnight into Sunday, strikes continued. The Kyiv Independent reported at least two dead and 25 injured across the country in the past day, with drones hitting housing and energy sites in Kyiv Oblast. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast a child was killed and others hurt, including two eight-year-old girls in a later strike on a residential building. One person died in Donetsk Oblast.
In Washington, Republican congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said he would force a House vote on legislation to block Russian oil purchases. The bombs in Zaporizhzhia landed before that vote exists.
